I thought I'd like to tell you about what is happening on 2 hearing loop fronts.
Well, I have good news! You might recall that after a juddery start, the Council cooperated with me and my Ward Councillor in getting repairs and innovations done at the crematorium. I have received an encouraging email from the relevant manager telling us that works are apace there.
Work has been completed in installing an induction loop at the Extra Mural Chapel. Some modifications were suggested after an inspection and these will be addressed. The Extra Mural Chapel? I hear you say. Yes, I haven't mentioned that before and it wasn't mentioned in my Equality Act (EA) Claim. So that's good news.
What was addressed in my EA Claim was the dire situation in the North Chapel. The news on that matter is work to repair the errant induction loop at the North Chapel began last week and an infra-red system is being installed too.
I'm not quite sure how that's going to work out, because it entails handing out and retrieving neck loops. These sometimes go AWOL but that's not my problem. There is also some good news about the South Chapel but I'll deal with that another time as all this excitement might be too much for those of you with dicky hearts.
As for the situation at the Old Court House, things went swimmingly there at our visit on 4 September 2013. Doug Edworthy, induction loop advisor/consultant par excellance, did a very thorough assessment and submitted his typically brilliant report to the Council. We have high hopes that the OCH will be rendered magnificent in its acoustic capacities before long without any litigation or threats of litigation.
I hope to meet some of you at the forthcoming Conferences in Eastbourne. I can be recognised because I wear a deer-stalker cap and carry a very large magnifying glass and smoke a very large Calabash pipe. Are there enough clues there?
